For class, please bring:
A full tarot deck with illustrated Minor Arcana cards. (Scroll down for deck recommendations.)
Some decks do not have unique images for the Pip cards. Instead of illustrating a scene, only the number
and suit is represented - for example, only 9 Cups are shown, rather than the traditional scene of a
well-fed fellow surrounded by 9 Cups. If possible, try to find a fully illustrated deck - it's easier to develop
unique associations with each card
Some decks are made up of only the Major Arcana cards and do not include the Minor Arcana (the
numbered suit cards, aka the Pip cards, and the court cards). Be sure to find a deck with 78 cards.
You may also wish to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes or a small tape recorder.
These are just a few decks that are great for learning - the colors and imagery are really helpful for beginners to make connections to card meanings.
Once you have a strong foundation of card associations, you'll find it easier to expand your collection and experiment with different art styles.
