Who can benefit from Reiki?
Everyone!
Reiki can assist and support western medicine in folks who are currently undergoing medical treatments. It is becoming
more common in hospital settings, as it has been shown to provide pain relief and comfort.
For folks who are not in acute medical situations, Reiki is often used to promote relaxation and to encourage good health
and vitality. It is used to help clear mental/emotional blockages before they settle in the body as disease.

A Reiki treatment can be provided in-person or in absentia.
In person, your Reiki Practitioner is likely to have a conversation with you to assess your needs, goals, and current
state of health. Then s/he may ask you to lie clothed on a massage table (or for some treatments, you will sit in a
chair). Depending on your needs, your Practitioner will hold their hands over certain areas of your body, and may
touch some points (but this will be "Good Touch" - there is no need for your Practitioner to touch private or sensitive
areas.) They may say prayers, affirmations, Reiki mantras, and/or your name, but often it is a rather quiet and restful
experience. You may or may not sense temperature changes or energy pulses - mostly folks just become very, very
relaxed. It is likely to take around an hour (or more or less, depending on your goals), and you may feel a little
"space-y" at the conclusion. Your Practitioner will provide you with water and engage you in a little conversation about
your experience to ground you before you go.

What is a treatment session like?
Loosely translated from Japanese: Rei = universal, Ki = energy
Reiki is a form of hands-on (or hands-near) healing. It is a non-invasive method of encouraging
relaxation, stress-reduction, pain-relief and healing. "Rediscovered" by Dr. Usui, a Japanese
healer, it is utilized to enhance and improve the flow of the life force energy in the person
receiving the treatment.
